We’ve harvested the first tomatos, and soon there will be a flood of them. We only have 5 plants, but every one of them is full of tomatoes. Luckily we both looove ripe garden tomatoes.
The jury is still out on whether trellissing is really a good way of growing tomatoes. We did a poor job of cutting back the excess sprouts, so we ended up with bushy plants that didn’t climb up the trellis very far. Obviously you need to be a lot more diligent about that. But since we have enough space, it doesn’t really seem worth the effort. I’d rather use the trellis to grow more beans.
