There are many good reasons to bike-commute: financial, environmental, and health, among others. But there are also a lot of more serendipitous benefits, that are insufficiently appreciated by the car-commuting majority.
Case in point: on my way to work today I briefly stopped at a convenient roadside patch of blackberry bushes. In no time, I had a cup of ripe, juicy, freshly picked blackberries. At the office, I enjoyed a bowl of granola with banana and blackberries – what a great way to start the workday!
