Purple and Gold

All summer we’ve been watching our little potato patch grow and flourish. Now the plants are slowly withering and dying back – it’s harvest time. We planted 6 different varieties; the first to be ready are Swedish Peanut and Purple Majesty.

The Majesties turned out really nicely: big, plump, deep purple potatoes. The yield of Peanuts was a lot smaller; but they are super delicious: firm, with a dense creamy texture and full of flavor.

Of the two, the Swedish Peanuts are our favorites so far. We’re really looking forward to trying the remaining varieties: Banana Fingerlings, Peruvian Purple Fingerlings, Rose Finn Fingerlings, and German Butterball.
