It wouldn’t be Christmas without the smell of sweet, buttery cookies baking in the oven. And not just any cookies – there are some things that you just have to bake during the holiday season; never at any other time of the year. First and foremost, of course, Christstollen. We won’t discuss the merits of Quarkstollen here – suffice it to say, that I opted for the genuine article:
Another item that is de rigeur: Wendy’s brandy-drenched fruit cake. It’s only genuine if it is baked in a tin lined with a cut up brown paper bag.
Finally, an assortment of Christmas cookies. The specific selection is not quite as rigidly defined.
We haven’t been quite as prolific as in years past, but I am looking forward to eating Christmas goodies well into the new year.
