Guerrilla Grafting–Success

IMG_3433We recently went to see what had become of our guerrilla grafting efforts. This was our first attempt at grafting, performed in a rather unorthodox manner using just a penknife and electrical tape. It was more in the spirit of a science experiment and I had low expectations. Imagine my surprise to find that almost all of the grafts were successful and starting to leaf out!

I had always considered grafting one of those highly advanced horticultural techniques best left to the ‘experts’. I’m glad we tried it and were able to dispel that notion. It’s nice to be able to add that technique to my gardening toolbox. Now I’m very curious to see how many years it will take until these grafts start to bear fruit.
