The sun is low in the sky, days are shorter, and nights are colder. Oh, and it’s raining again more often than not. The signs are unmistakable. The bees haven’t failed to notice and are making the most of every minute of dry weather to top up their stores for the winter. We’ve never seen as much pollen coming into the hives as now. Very soon we expect the number of bees to go down sharply – when no plants are blooming there is no point in maintaining a lot of foragers. But for now, it’s all hands on deck.
