We’ve been wanting to do more multi-day bike rides this year; Memorial Day weekend we finally got our act together and set off for an overnight trip to Deception Pass. Our route: ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island; across the Hood Canal Bridge to Port Townsend; ferry to Coupeville; and up the west side of Whidbey Island to the State Park.
This was our first self-supported tour on the tandem. We opted to put our camping gear in the cargo trailer instead of weighing down the tandem with additional panniers. That worked out very well: the Burley Nomad handles really well on the road and we hardly noticed it – except going uphill. And there are a lot of hills on the island roads.
Here are some more pictures from the road.
Where are the rain photos? Don’t tell me you managed to avoid the rain.
I kept the camera dry when it was raining. Luckily we only had occasional sprinkles, mainly on Sunday morning.
